TV Junkies The sitcom / sketch comedy series that
"spoofs yet embraces" the world of television.

Main Characters

LARRY CUNNINGHAM

Larry is a fresh out of graduate school, more adult-oriented guy who's trying to make something of himself with his various online web site ventures. Luckily, the relaxed, flexible schedule gives him lots of time to catch a lot of his true business... watching television! And business is good. Larry is a great friend with a good head on his shoulders. He's very calm and reserved and knows when something feels right or wrong. But his charm and maturity can quickly vanish when his TV comes on. He's not as responsible and diligent as he could be, even though he looks up to so many responsible TV characters from Mister Rogers to Mr. Drummond.

When the special TV he wins from the cable company starts blending TV situation into his and best friend Darryl's real life, Larry is not one to enjoy them off the bat. He also tries to stop Darryl from getting too involved, and usually ends up teaching Darryl a lesson after each adventure. But even Larry can't resist the power of the possessed TV and ends up getting caught up in some of its antics as well, usually when it comes to using it to try to change his ways to please Marcia.

DARRYL DRUMMOND

Darryl is not much younger than Larry in age, but definitely is in spirit. He's a 20-something guy who loves living life, but doesn't exactly know what to do with it. So he's constantly enrolled in some vocational school, searching the Internet for info, taking a personality test, or trying a new trade. Anything he can until he finds his niche. But finding it becomes very delayed since he spends more of his free time into television than into a successful trade.

Darryl is usually a leap-before-you-look type of person, so he is very excited to find Larry's new TV creating real-life sitcom scenarios for them. He is usually the first to get sucked into the TV's power and try to use it for personal gain. But he's also the first to get very upset when it causes trouble for him, especially when it gets him into big trouble with Vanessa. Luckily, his best friend and fellow TV addict is always there to look out for him. But when Larry is taken over by the TV's power, Darryl steps up to the challenge and becomes mature, doing whatever it takes to save his friend... or at least tape the latest episode of Heroes.

MARCIA PARTRIDGE

Marcia is the ultimate health nut. She works at the local gym as a personal trainer. Her diet consists of salads, trail mix, and granola bars. She meditates and does yoga to become one with the earth. So one thing she definitely doesn't do too much of is watch TV. To her, Monterey Jack is just a cheese, not a character on Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers. She thinks television ruins your “chi” and causes coach potato laziness and unfit bodies. She definitely tries to get that through to Larry, who she thinks would be more responsible and in tune with his life if he would just click the power off the boob tube every once in a while.

Ironically, when something weird happens to Larry or Darryl through the TV, Marcia (who doesn't know the TV is doing these things) sometimes goes along with it unwittingly until things get back to normal. Or as normal as they can be.

VANESSA KEATON

Vanessa is the personification of an independent, renaissance woman. She loves the arts and culture and proves it through her many jobs and activities, such as dancing, painting, sculpting, poetry, singing, and songwriting. She gets a lot of support from her peers on her art. But unfortunately she doesn't get it from her own boyfriend Darryl, who would rather watch William Hung sing badly on American Idol than to see her sing well in person.

She thinks TV can be somewhat creative, but not to the extent of the amount Darryl watches. But unlike Marcia, Vanessa can be a little more blunt in getting Darryl to change, cause being subtle just isn't working well for him. She thinks Darryl has potential to be a very creative person if he spent more time in a museum and less time on Gilligan's Island. Vanessa also doesn't know about the powers of the TV, so she can never get what's going on in Larry and Darryl's home. But she even gets sucked in sometimes and confuses herself when she does so.

DR. RICK SAVAGE

Dr. Rick Savage is a very strange character who apparently is a product of Larry and Darryl's strange, possessed television. But no one knows exactly which show he comes from. It is believed that he may have just been a character actor who guest starred on several shows such as Charlie's Angels, Magnum P.I., Airwolf, Starsky & Hutch, The A-Team, and rumor has it he has been on The Love Boat more times than Charo.

Dr. Rick always pops in and out of Larry and Darryl's home at opportune moments. Whenever Larry and Darryl need a specialist, you'll find Dr. Rick claiming to be so, no matter what the skill is. He usually appears, sometimes in the oddest of places, saying hi to everybody (They always reply "Hi, Dr. Rick" - yes, we know, Simpsons did it), and conducting a plan using his supposed expertise. But Dr. Rick's crazy schemes usually get Larry and Darryl into even more trouble. And if he's not helping out his friends, he's usually giving a quick quip, playing another TV character, or being as randy with women as he can with his Schneider from One Day at a Time charm. You never know what to expect with Dr. Rick, except for one thing... hilarity!

CHERIE DRUMMOND

Cherie is Darryl's teenage sister who always seem to pop up unannounced, especially more than ever once the special TV shows up. While it's not clear whether or not Cherie is aware of the TV's powers, she totally goes along with the strange things that occur in Larry and Darryl's home. That usually means "big brother" Darryl has to either save her from danger (like headlining her own after-school special) or keep himself from sending her to the moon, Kramden style (like when she speaks in Smurf-talk).

She also plays up the "cute kid factor," which she brought in to compete with Darryl's evil twin brother character (long story, I'll explain in Episode #2). Like most sitcoms with young stars, as Darryl gets older - therefore less "cute" - Cherie shows up to keep interest. She literally poses in mid-conversation to show off her cuteness. It's no wonder her TV idols are Keshia Knight Pulliam and Raven-Symoné from their Cosby Show days. Bright, bubbly, and full of spunk, this new millennium Punky Brewster will charm the pants off anyone... but don't literally take your pants off around her or you'll end up on one of those Dateline NBC stings.
